About Me
I am a consultant clinical psychologist with over 25 years' experience working in the NHS and now work independently offering supervision to independent practitioners and NHS Trusts, as well as individual therapy . I work with adults and teenagers with all types of difficulties: trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, low self-esteem, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, addictions, eating disorders, interpersonal difficulties and health conditions.
I am accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and also an accredited consultant, supervisor and training facilitator of the association for eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR UK). I hold a diploma in CBT for psychosis and I am also trained in Family Intervention for psychosis. I am a member of the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

I offer appointments in person in Matlock, Derbyshire, and online appointments for people living further afield or who have a preference to be seen online.

What can you expect?
First appointment
An initial telephone or video consultation is offered free of charge in order to decide whether to proceed with a more comprehensive assessment. If appropriate, an assessment will be offered to determine what type of intervention would be most helpful. This is a collaborative process in which we arrive at a mutual decision about how best to proceed. It can be difficult to seek help and it is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist so this is an opportunity for you to decide whether you think this feels right for you.

Therapy
I provide evidence-based interventions for psychological problems as recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Health Excellence (NICE). Many problems I encounter are underpinned by earlier traumatic experiences and for this reason I have specialised in a treatment called Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a recommended treatment for complex trauma and PTSD. EMDR is also an effective treatment for depression, phobias and pain.
